SushiBird Tile

As I was skimming through Home Beautiful magazine I saw these gorgeous handmade tiles by The Red Thread. These vibrant, graphic birds are created from Japanese papers nest on stylised background patterns inspired by nature. The white line work illustrations are hand painted on solid natural timber, and each element of the SushiBird is lovingly cut by hand from carefully combined paper colours and patterns, creating a stylish, elegant work of art with a contemporary feel. SushiBird Tiles are made in a limited edition of 50, and each tile is personally signed and numbered by artist Lisa Tilse. As they are individually created by hand, no two will ever be the same. Finished with a semi-gloss varnish for protection, the piece has a luxurious sheen that enhances the natural grain and warmth of the timber. Available at Udessi from $150.00 each. Inspiring!

Plate Wall

Ever since I first had dinner at 'Dish' in St.Kilda Road Melbourne, I have wanted to create a Plate wall in my Kitchen. It seems that I am not the only one who sees the beauty in plates. Angela Hardson and Lisa Congdon have both created a beautifully colourful example (courtesy of Design Sponge). Now that I have a house of my own I am no longer constrained by the rental rules. Finally I will be able to make my Plate wall dreams come true. When I do, I will be sure to post it :)

EcoCocoon

Those awesome retro red cups are back, and better than ever! They are made from stainless steel and a free from the residual chemical taints that come from many plastic items. They also do our landfill a favour, providing a safe, durable (and virtually indestructible) alternative to plastic and polystyrene. If you do manage to ruin one, they're 100% recyclable, as well as being manufactured in a carbon neutral environment. I feel a picnic coming on! Sold as a set of 6.
